Hide or Seek

The happiness that once was in a woman’s life can never be said could last forever. The gestures and kind words that once were can begin to fade. It was a home that once flourished with the words of Allah when leaving or entering. One day, an attitude of control began to overtake his mood.  Forceful, taunting and humilating words replaced the once soft spoken words that were once sincere and dear to a woman’s heart.

What happened she asks? The marriage that before Allah should be one of fruitful moments and encouragement is now looking like scratched glass. The possibilites of undoing all of the emotional turmoil is just one sided. Her husband’s words are a point blank leave if this has consumed your soul and left youwith memories of unhappiness. A woman’s tears to a cold and disturbing remark of helplessness has her thinking hide my troubles with patience or seek options. A word of comfort from one day to another is all a woman seeks with hope for recovering a marriage that was based on respect, love and fear for Allah.

Women who are in emotional and mental abuse can be just as scarring as physical abuse. It’s impossible to know what goes behind close doors and there is really no way to tell for sure if someone is experiencing emotional and mental abuse.  Feelings of helplessness and desperation are easy to hide but it is wrong when situation like this could escalate into physical.

I pray that Allah guides our Muslim homes.

Amin. It’s even more sad when nobody but the victim knows what’s going on behind closed doors.
