Amazing and Admirable

We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything between them as a game. We did not create them except with truth, but most of them do not know it.
(Surat ad-Dukhan: 38-39)

The web above looks pretty unimportant, meaningless, and useless. However, the tiny creature that so carefully crafted it  was so unaware of its relationship it would have to the belief that Allah has no imperfections or weaknesses. It has taken me a great deal of efforts to understand that as part of my existence  consists of observing everything that exists, considering it, and being able to decipher the message within. Because everything which exists, and especially every living thing in nature, is a sign of God’s existence and bears witness to His being.

Today I was inspired to relate what I read in the Quran to the existence of the spider. My attention was drawn to the following verse in the Quran which revealed to me such a meaningful and powerful message:

In the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and day, and the ships which sail the seas to people’s benefit, and the water which God sends down from the sky – by which He brings the earth to life when it was dead and scatters about in it creatures of every kind – and the varying direction of the winds, and the clouds subservient between heaven and earth, there are Signs for people who use their intellect. (Surat al-Baqara: 164)

For someone who likes to reflect on logic and reason, I came to conclude that every part of nature is like a key to the door of truth. Such tiny creature as the spider has conveyed to me the understanding to seeing the perfection of Allah’s creation.

And He has made everything in the heavens and everything on the earth subservient to you. It is all from Him. There are certainly Signs in that for people who reflect.

(Surat al-Jathiyaa:13)

These tiny creatures seem like little construction workers, engineering the calculations to build their nests or may seem like chemist who are carefully planning, making, dissolving and hunting their next prey.

These skills that characterize this tiny creature are something that as human beings we look forward to master only by learning  to gain proficiency and experience. However, to consider this to some extent only leaves me to think that this already exists in the spider from the moment it was born.

Did the spider decide to be able to take on these characteristics? Did it study flowers and corners of gardens to begin weaving? It has been made clear that the spider would not have the ability to do this.

Your god is God alone, there is no other deity than Him. He encompasses all things in His knowledge.
(Surah Ta Ha: 98)
