Fruit for Taste

“By the Fig and the Olive…”

(Surah at-Teen; 95:1)

What are the benefits imparted by this soft and delicious fruit?

As a young child we used to exchange our avocados which grew in ourbackyard for some of our neighbor’s figs which you could see in her front yard every summer.  I remember my brother and I walking over to our neighbor’s home with a bucket of avocados just to turn around and walk away with so many soft and sometimes smushy figs. We absolutely loved them.

Figs in its goodness and nutrition not only can be an ideal fruit for snack but it contains many health benefits. Nutritionists describe eating figs , which are high in fiber as a good way of increasing one’s fiber intake.

The fig is so pleasant to eat, already packaged and its nutritional value and its health benefits has led me to acquire a whole new importance to try to include it in my daily diet.

Allah has provided us in this fruit the substance we need.

How compassionate is Allah to us!!

The way that this special blessing from Allah is mentioned in the Quran is another indication that the Quran is indisputable the word of Allah, the Omniscient.

From the point of view of human health, the nutritional value of the fig also gives us  strength and energy as you could read on with the following link:

Also, don’t overlook at the end of that page a special recipe section that includes the foods mentioned in the Quran.

Happy eating and good Health to you and your family!!
