Planting plants and trees in appropriate places is an act of great merit. Anas has quoted the following Prophetic saying: -
“A man plants a tree or sows a field and a man or bird eats from it, the tree or field becomes a source of sadaqah for him.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Wow, when I first read this my personal reaction was what benefit and merit of advantage can be taken by all of us to be able to go out and plant a tree. Giving back to the environment is an action that rarely happens but yet so easy to be recognized as a good deed.

Yes, I have heard this somewhere but very long back and almost forgot it. Thanks for reminding me again ……………..
Asalaamu alikum,
Suhan’allah* what a beautiful hadith you have shared with us. I love trees. They have been mentioned quite many times in the Qur’an and in the Ahadith too.
A simple thing we can all do it give tree seed a chance when they fall upon the pavement- http://dontbesadblog.wordpress.com/2007/12/28/tree-seed/
May Allah swt give us the understanding of the Sunnah and preserve the environment. You may like to visit the website of EcoIslam http://ifees.org.uk/ (still being developed).
Kind regards,
